Those who have used a patkha know how useful it is in deserts or when out in any hot and dusty place. The desert patkha is particularly invaluable in deserts, to save yourself from blistering heat and the all pervasive fine sand. The patkha is tied around the head. Its loose folds fall around the neck and shoulders, protecting them from heat. In case of a dust storm, just draw the loose folds of the patkha over your face, tucking its loose ends securely. This leaves your eyes open, whilst protecting the rest of your face from dust. The eyes can be protected using suitable eye glasses.
